Flanges are usually circular and comprise of edge or rim that can be used to increase the strength of the structure it is installed in. It is easy to attach and acts as a connecter and a seal between two parts. It is widely used in connecting pipes, pumps, valves, etc., in a large-scale pipe system. It is also useful in ensuring stability in machinery that can dislocate due to large amounts of shocks, vibration or pressure.
